ALL TEXTURED FOR WINTER #OOTD

Texture and fur are big trends this Winter. With the temperatures plummeting, layering up a below luxurous feather gilet like this one from Topshop is the perfect way to incorporate this trend into you wardrobe this season. We think it would look great thrown on over a simple roll neck jumper and a pair of richly coloured ripped jeans (another key trend at the moment).

We've discovered The Bohemian Collective's awesome range of delicate silver jewellery and we want it all. Their silver necklaces and bracelets would be perfect layered up to add some bohemian charm to this look. We especially enjoying the handcrafted Peruvian Ganesh Necklace, which should be top of everyone's wishlists this Christmas.

Not forgetting to treat your feet - This outfit is completed with a pair of Chocolate Fur Babucha Boots which are perfect to see you through Winter in style and comfort.

MAKING THE AW14 LOOKBOOK

With the Autumn Winter Babucha Boot collection now available online and at a range of independent boutiques around the UK and Europe, we thought we would take a look back over the look book for the current collection.

Shot earlier in the year, the AW14 look book is set in a quirky derelict community hall in Bristol. Undergoing massive restoration to return it to a functioning community space, the spirit of All Hallows Hall and its roots in the urban community of Bristol was the perfect match for the character of the Babucha Boots.

Check out the behind the scenes film from the AW14 shoot below.

BEHIND THE BABUCHA BOOTS

The traditional slippers of Morocco are called ‘babouches’, high quality artisan footwear made of 100% moroccan leather. The babouche is a soft leather mule-like slipper available in a wide selection of colours.
Moroccans love wearing their babouches everywhere. With a simple and comfortable version of the shoe to wear in the house, as well as outdoor versions which are more traditional, decorative and come with a sturdier sole.

The babouche renders its wearer unable to walk without shuffling his or her feet and scuffing up the sidewalk; indeed, he or she can be heard slap slap slapping at least a hundred meters away.

There are three distinct styles of traditional babouche shoes. Firstly the Babouche Slippers (sometimes known as Belgha Slippers), a shoe which is handmade from the finest quality sheepskin and comes with a rounded toe. Secondly, the Berber Mules, an extremely comfortable shoe, with a strong traditional and ethnic image.

The third style originally existed mainly in the mountainous regions of Morocco. The local artisans created this intriguing and alternative design to facilitate the life of farmers in the Riff Mountains, and were very much influenced by the Babouche Slipper and the Berber Mule. This new shape avoided clay falling into their shoes and helped to protected the back of their legs while roaming through tough terrain. A shoe that fell into disuse.

The Babucha Boot by AYMO

Our Babouches are different from the originals found in the markets (souks) of the Riff Mountains in Morocco. We worked for months with the local artisans to create our twist on the regional babouche boots.

Firstly we changed the shape, going narrower for a more feminine and elegante fit but still keeping comfort, which was a key factor for us. Secondly we improved the quality of the soles and the structure of the boot, for more sturdy wearing and a comfortable walk on rough ground. Last, but by no means least, we improved the detailing and perfected the finishings. We chose to create our collection of boots in earthy pastel tones, so that they would be on trend for the contemporary Babucha Boot wearers and appeal to the wider urban public.
The Babucha Boots by AYMO are available online now as well as at a range of stockists throughout the UK. Our next season collection will be hitting the shelves of stockists throughout the UK and Europe in September. So don’t miss out.

AYMO | CHEFFCHOUEN ADVENTURES

Aymo was born from a passion for adventure, individuality and exploring new cultures. It all started in 2009 during a trip to Morocco where Nuno and Rita (the founders of Aymo) were charmed by the landscape of the Riff mountains, the Cheffchouen traditions and the quirky Babucha boots.

Drawn to heritage, AYMO embraces products that are eye-catching and authentic. Which, along with the amazing inspiration taken from Moroccan culture, styles and traditions around them, made Cheffchouen the perfect place for AYMO to begin. In fact, the very name AYMO is taken from these lands and was the nickname given to them by the locals they befriended.

By looking back at the photographs documenting their travels around these Mountains during their first visit to Morocco allows Nuno and Rita to be reminded of all the minute details and the beautifully vast landscapes which initially inspired them. And so, Cheffchouen continuous to be a great source of inspiration to AYMO, the products and the brand.

PASTEL TRENDING

Pastels are a big trend for SS14 and they are looking to stay around until SS15 too. A key colour palate for many designers including Giles, Christopher Kane, Burberry and many more, pastels featured heavily in their SS14 collections.

A great trend to work with the boho style. Throw on some chunky rings, bracelets and even a floral headpiece to really get the full boho summer look. Perfect for festivals and laid back summer fashion!
We have been busy working on the SS15 collection lately. As we see pastels sticking around for the next few seasons, we have been getting influenced by all things pastel to help us design it. From pastel colour tones to catwalk photos to inspiration images.
Our Old Pink Babucha Boots are a great way to  invest in the pastel trend. A comfortable yet stylish shoe to get you through all your summer adventures and seeing you all the way to wetter winter weather too! An easy way to add a little pastel colour to brighten up any outfit and to keep on trend all season long.

Grab the Babucha boots online now or head to your nearest stockist to try a pair on for yourself!

NOME WEARS AYMO

At the AYMO office, we’re listing to NOME to get us to the weekend. A band from our home country of Portugal, NOME started out in 2004 and have gone on to gain a huge following and have even been nominated for awards at the MTV EMA’s amongst other high accolades.

With a perchant for rock some catchy guitar riffs, we’re sure NOME can only get bigger. Not only does lead singer João Tiago have an sultry rock star voice, he also has awesome style. In fact, we recently spotted him wearing the Green Naz Shirt by AYMO.
